News: Public housing, PPR residents warned against installing iron grilles, barriers at corridors

Jul 28, 2020

The Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has warned residents of Public Housing (PA) and People Housing Project (PPR) against installing iron grilles and placing barriers on the corridors of their homes.

“DBKL views this matter seriously. Installing iron grilles or placing barriers (on the corridors) may cause trouble for police, DBKL enforcement as well as fire personnel to access the area in times of emergency,” said Khairul Azmir Ahmad, Director of DBKL Corporate Planning Department, as quoted by Bernama.

Residents who were found to have installed grilles or placed any structure that blocks the corridors will be issued with warning notices.

Failure to comply with such notice will see an integrated enforcement operation to remove and confiscate the iron grilles or any structure blocking the corridors.

Those flouting the notice may also see their tenancy agreement contract terminated, under clauses 7.01 (b) and 7.01 (f) of the DBKL House Rental Agreement Document, said Khairul Azmir.

“This year, DBKL had conducted iron grille-cutting operations at PPR Beringin, PPR Intan Baiduri and PPR Batu Muda,” he added.
